Appala Reddy Yendreddi

Appala Reddy works for environmental protection, rural development and human rights. He graduated in English Literature from Periyar University, Tamilnadu. He is currently pursuing Master of Social Work through Distance Education.

He had been working for an NGO for almost 11 years before he chose to be a teacher in 2008. He worked as a teacher till Dec 2016. During this period, he established an organization ‘India Youth For Society’ (IYFS). Being a teacher, he could get support from many students. The organization aims and works for clean environment, road safety measures, and discarded plastics. He started a campaign with a slogan, “Prevent Polythene – Protect Planet.”(P4). As a part of this, he and his team used to resell cloth, jute & paper bags.

Creating Social Impact through Five Campaigns:

  1. Creating Awareness about hazards caused by the Discarded Plastics in order to avoid landfills, promote alternative eco-friendly products, avoid clogging Indian Drains, save cows and reducing consumption levels, Planning Waste Management Unit
  2. Creating Awareness about Road Traffic
  3. He is also working on Youth Suicides.
  4. He is working on the issue of ‘Honking.’ ‘Please Sound Horn,’ was born somewhere / sometime in India. This is a huge nuisance in India. “Horn is to Alert” is the campaign he initiated and is working on a policy with GoI. The vehicular horns are between 30 – 110 dB now
  5. MESSAGE is a charity project to help the students in Government Schools, Mr. Reddy assists in.
