Mona Yadav is the Co-Founder at “Sahasâ€- A Gender Initiative started in June 2016. The work at Sahas envisions providing knowledge building to adolescents on “Gender, Sexuality and Reproductive Health†thereby building their capacity to challenge experiences of gender based violence in the form of child sexual abuse. She has co-created 30 hour Gender, Sexuality and Reproductive Health Curriculum to be implemented for adolescents in India. She has facilitated two Gender and Sexuality Interventions in two slum communities in Delhi-NCR with 50 adolescents. She is currently co-working on designing a curriculum for parents on sexuality education. As part of long term collaboration with “UnGenderâ€; she has worked with 240 young people focusing on exploring and breaking judgments on diverse gender identities.
She has been recently engaging in activism on gender issues. “Sahas†with 16 organizations in Dwarka, New Delhi organized the “Iwillgoout†campaign on 21st January 2017. She also participated in “One Billion Risingâ€; an international campaign against gender based violence. Being an alumna of Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi; she has also showcased her work done at Sahas at the ELSA NGO MELA in 2017.
She has worked as a team member in various NGOs focusing on issues of education, youth empowerment and gender based violence for the last 4 years. She was awarded with the Change-loom Fellowship by Pravah in 2015 for her gender work with youth in slum community.
Besides this; she is a psychologist and a research scholar. She completed her MPhil in Education Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in 2015. Her MPhil work was titled, “The Psychology of Academic Achievement: An Intersectionality Approachâ€. She is currently a PhD Research Scholar at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
