Mr Kumar received Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and Masters in Structural Engineering before joining the Indian Forest Service in 1987. Mr Kumar is now the District Forest Officer for the Government of India; he manages and administers about 600 square kilometers of forest land and resources in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Understanding importance of environmental protection and sustainable development in daily lives, his main priorities are protection, conservation, sustainable development of the forest wealth and improvement in the living conditions of the people living within the territory. He has also served as the Head, SAARC Forestry Centre, Bhutan.
Presently, he is working as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India. Previously, he was the Director of Dept. of Environment, Science and Technology, Government of Himachal Pradesh and is pursuing Master of Business Administration at the Indira Gandhi National Open University in New Delhi.
