Captain Afzal Amdani, an ex-Army Officer and avid marathoner, is sustainability professional with an experience of 14 years. He is currently driving two global employee engagement programs in TCS; Fit4life and Purpose4life. TCS Fit4life is a employee wellness initiative to encourage the employee to get into fitness activities and Purpose4life is a corporate volunteering initiative for the social causes. In addition, he is also managing the alliance between TCS and GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) to promote the sustainability reporting among Indian Corporates.
During his tenure in TCS, Captain Afzal has been involved in various sustainability projects for clients and he has been a part of many internal key initiatives like energy management and conservation, implementation of sustainability data management system and conceptualization and pilot of award winning remote energy management system.
He has been instrumental in achievement of 10th CII National Award for Excellence in Energy Management 2009 for TCS and also, recently won People Matters Best in Wellness Award 2017 for TCS Fit4life initiative.
He is B.E. (Petrochemical) with post graduate diploma in Renewable Energy from TERI University. He is a certified Lead Auditor ISO 14001, Lead Verifier ISO 14064 and Lead Auditor ISO 50001. He is on India advisory committee for peer-to-peer deaf literacy project implementation by University of Central Lancashire. He is actively working with ShauryaKiran Foundation for the welfare of martyr’s families and ex-servicemen. Also, he is a volunteer with Snow Leopard Conservancy India Trust, Leh, Ladakh.
