Chingmak Kejong is the Chief Functionary and co- founder of the Eleutheros Christian Society, a community based organization stationed in Tuensang located at the eastern most part of Nagaland, India. He is currently engaged in Doctoral study with Senate of Serampore University, West Bengal and doing research in the area of Naga traditional system of governance and aspires to see how this becomes an effective tool for local governance and sustainable development in the state of Nagaland.
He was elected an Ashoka Fellow in 2002, member of South East Asian Peace Dialogue; State wild Life Protection Board; State Level Education Board, Govt. of Nagaland and a nominated member of Planning commission under the Voluntary Action Cell of the ministry, Government of India.
Of late, much of his involvement has been with the Faith based Organisation in Nagaland to particularly address and counter the issue of stigma and discrimination attached to People living with HIV/AIDS. He advocates and networks with community stakeholders for Greater Involvement of People Living with HIV/AIDS into the mainstream Decision making bodies.
He is the brain behind educational reform projects in the rural villages of Tuensang District which help facilitated in implementation of the Bill passed by the Government of Nagaland on Communitization of School Education in 2002. His believes that Tuensang being the most backward region in India, education if modeled for providing knowledge fused with life skills, education on peace and culture can bring tangible change. Chingmak introduced the concept of civil society to the less engaged members of society to promote democratization, civil participation, and governmental accountability.
