Chittaranjan Hota works with extremely backward communities in the Western parts of Odisha, whose livelihoods insecurities worsened with degrading natural resources like land, forest and water. Livelihoods and well-being of these poor people, who constitute nearly 80 percent of the intervened area, is directly dependent on these natural resources. Chittaranjan, with his organisation Manav Adhikar Seva Samiti (MASS) which he currently leads as the Secretary, works very closely with these communities for community centric revival and management of the resources for economic, social and environmental uplift.
As the Chief functionary of MASS, he is now carrying forward the legacy of 25 years long experience of the organisation. He is recognized for his strong association with the communities at the roots, and building debates around key issues of water, land, environment, climate change, disaster and forest management based on evidences from the roots.
Mr Chittaranjan, a post-graduate in Social Sciences, relies more on the practical experience and the rich wisdom of the people with whom he works.
