Dr. Dishant Parasharya works at Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) as Scientist in the Conservation Department. BNHS is a 133 year old organization working in the field of biodiversity conservation. Dishant’s focal area is conservation of Marine life in India through research, documentation and education. He has completed his doctorate degree from The M. S. University of Baroda. He is working in the field of biodiversity research since last 15 years. He has published several research papers on coral reefs of the Gulf of Kachchh. This includes his works on the coral community, seaslugs and fishes. He has developed a protocol for the transplantation of corals in the Gulf of Kachchh, which is now being practiced by the state forest department for enriching the coral community in the protected areas of the Gulf of Kachchh. For the conservation of the coral reefs he has conducted several training programs for the Gujarat Forest Department, local NGOs, university students and research scholars. He has also worked in the field of wetland conservation and possesses knowledge of wetland birds. He is executive committee member of the Bird Conservation Society – Gujarat (BCSG). He is a passionate Wildlife enthusiast and loves to travel for his research.
