Anoop Upadhyay is building a database and mathematical models as Deputy Conservator of Forests for the Resource Survey and Management Division of Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. The database and models are to be used in decisions regarding sustainable forest management. He also teaches forest management to post-graduate students.
He is a member of the Indian Forest Service. His work in the state of Punjab, has taken him to the arid regions of the districts of Faridkot, Moga, Muktasar and Ferozepur and to the watersheds of Hoshiarpur. In a past position, he was in charge of monitoring forestry-related activities. His Ph.D. in mathematics is from Lucknow University. He also participated in an FAO-sponsored training in the USA with a focus on tree improvement and biometrics.
