Dr. Ishaprasad Bhagwat is a Medical Doctor, with an MBBS Degree from JIPMER, Pondicherry. The prevention of disease, and the social aspects of medicine attracted him, and hence he completed his MD in Community Medicine from AIIMS, New Delhi. Since 1990, Dr. Bhagwat has been working at the grassroots with rural and tribal communities across several States of India on a range of public health issues – Maternal and Child Health Nutrition, WASH, Community Ophthalmology, Neonatal Care, Health Systems Strengthening – with NGOs, Corporate and the Government.
He is now working with Women’s Self-Help Groups and their Federations to mobilize them to realize their health, nutrition and WASH entitlements, and promote appropriate behaviour change to prevent diseases and improve their well being and quality of life.
