Dr.Girija Prasad Pande is presently teaching History in Kumaon University, Nainital, India.He is the Sub-Editor of the most popular Hindi research journal on Himalayan Studies, Pahar.
He has been a Research Fellow of the Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi. Dr.Pande specialises on Economic History in the Himalayan region and is actively involved in issues related Mountain Environment. He is currently working on the History of Water Harvesting, Hydro Politics, History of Science and Technology and Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) wish to relate all his findings with present day policy planning. Dr. Pande is also collaborating with Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden, National Tree Growers Cooperative Federation (NTGCF), India and is associated with National Museum of Mankind, Ministry of HRD, Government of India, as its Project Director of the for Himalayan region too.
He has authored a book on Colonial Excise and some of his books are – Some Aspects of Indian Freedom Struggle, Himalayan Environment: A Scenario, Making the Iron and Selected Copper Plates of Chands of Kumaon.
