Lokendra Thakkar is presently General Manager at the MP CDM Agency and State Coordinator, GoMP State Climate Change Division at EPCO. He led the team at Climate Change division to prepare the State Climate Change Action Plan( SAPCC) for the State of MP.
His area of interest are Policy related issues to Climate Change, Natural Resources Management specially on Water and Biodiversity conservation. As Member Coordinator of State level Technical Core Group, he prepared State Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan. He was associated with monitoring of environmental framework of World bank financed project on Poverty Alleviation in Madhya Pradesh. Prior to this assignment, he worked for more than three years as Manager, Information Resource and Public Awareness at the Disaster Management Institute, Bhopal (M.P.) India, where he was involved in preparing the model District Emergency Management Plan of Khandwa, an earthquake prone district of M.P.
He also had a stint with Union Minister for Rural Development/Chemicals and Fertilizers Government of India as his Additional Private Secretary. A broadcaster and communicator by aptitude, Mr. Thakkar has been actively associated with broadcasting for more than twenty years and has produced various features and documentaries of national and international importance on environmental and developmental issues and has anchored live shows on scientific and environmental issues on radio and televisions.
He has M.Phil in Natural Resource Management from Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal, India. He did postgraduate in Chemistry after doing Bachelors in Science. He also has Bachelors degree in Journalism and Mass Communication.
