Mamatha Babbur Ramachandra Gowda has a wide range of professional experience from journalism to a community development. As the Community Development Officer of KUIDFC, she was responsible for the community development activities of Asian Development Bank’s Urban Poverty Alleviation project. M. Gowda started her career as a journalist in Deccan Herald in 1985. From 1996, she worked as an assistant documentation and communication executive at Wipro. In 1990, she joined the Karnataka Civil Services as an assistant director. In 1992, she was posted as the public relations officer, Bangalore City Corporation, where she was instrumental in mobilizing community participation for BCC’s developmental projects.
The success of SWABHIMANA in generating sustainable community participation in developmental activities is one of her major achievements. In addition to developing a Community Participation Model for sustainable community development, she is interested in linking IT to the development sector. In her current assignment she is working on the Public Domain for the Chief Minister of Karnataka on the e-governance project with the main objective of providing the state with good governance.
