Richa Pant has been awarded the Commonwealth-Cheavening Bursary 2001 to do her Masters in International Journalism at the University of Westminster, London. She now currently focussing on radio documentary.
Richa is on a a year’s sabbatical from New Delhi Television (NDTV), which produces Star News, India’s first 24 hour news channel. Richa has worked for NDTV for the last seven years. She has been a roving reporter with them and has extensively reported from across India on a wide range of issues from political to development issues.
Besides news stories Richa has to her credit a few mini documentaries: Village Voice and City Pulse, which explores the relationship of democracy with development in rural areas.
She was earlier the intake editor for Star News where she was responsible for presenting a balanced mix of news from the areas of politics, business, environment, development and sports. As an intake editor, she was responsible for handing out assignments to reporters and ensuring that dealines were met.
Richa Pant has a degree in English literature from Lady Sri Ram College, Delhi University (1993). She also has completed two intensive training programme with Reuters Foundation in writing and producing television news.
