Veena Ravichandran is currently Founder and Chief Executive at Climate & Development Consulting Inc., Ottawa, Canada. Previously, she was Senior Research Advisor, Climate and Development Knowledge Network at Overseas Development Institute. She has also served as the Senior Program Officer, Innovation Policy and Science at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Ottawa, Canada. Her work involves developing research capacity in developing countries in linking knowledge, outputs from scientific research and technology and policies for innovations towards social and economic development. Earlier, she was with the International Council for Science- Committee on Science and Technology in Developing Countries, in India as Principal Scientific Officer and engaged in promoting the linkage of science and technology to development in the South.
She has a doctorate in biophysics from the University of Madras and a Diploma in Technology Management from the United States International University, San Diego. She has to her credit 13 research publications in referred journals and 4 edited volumes. She received a citation in 2003 from the government of Andhra Pradesh, Bhoovigyan Vikas Foundation and M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation for her outstanding contribution in science and technology for national development. She has held consultancy positions with LEAD International, The Academy of Sciences for the Developing World, UNESCO and the European Commission.
